Girl in Wonderland (short story 4)

She stood on the crossroad looking left, right and then left again and still wasn't sure which path to choose. "weird, the last time I was here there was only one path..." she thought to herself, "where the hell did this path come from now?" she was asking herself with a big sigh, thinking that she would really need to make a decision soon, before it gets dark. "But how on earth can I make this decision now...?" looking around, the forest was thicker then she remembered whichever direction she looked, she was surrounded by trees. Then she realised, if I don't know where I'm going to it shouldn't matter which way I choose...all excited about her decision, she set off on her new adventure, anything can happen now. No clue about the path she has chosen, she started wondering what waits her on this path...what will I see? Will I meet anyone on this path? Is it hilly or flat? Will there be any resting points on the way? Will I find water to drink? Is there any wild life around? Will the birds sing for me?...
She could feel her heartbeat accelerating with the thoughts of the unknown and an unusual tingle in her legs as she climbed the first hill, wondering what the view will be like from the top. She reached the top and followed the path down the hill, around the lake and then a few more hills up and down. Busy with her thoughts, she suddenly found herself at the end of the path on the edge of the forest only to realise that she has missed it all. She had no idea what was in the forest.

Disappointed but determine not to let it happen again, she turned around, walked straight back into the forest, this time free in her mind and thoughts to accept whatever will come.

Life on the beach (Short story 3)

There's so many things to do on the beach and usually my chosen activity depends first on nature...

On every beach I can find some creatures, usually small, not so visible at first, but if I sit down on the sand, not too far from the water, I can usually spot some crabs running around and other types of sandy creatures...
Depending on the weather as well, sometimes it is just too hot to move or do anything outside the water. Watching these creatures, chasing and catching them is one of my ways to entertain myself on the beach.

Lying down quietly and listening to the sounds of the waves, the birds catching fish in the water, is one of my favourites... but if the beach is crowded, especially with loud kids and families, then there's probably just one thing left for me to do... go find a quieter beach!

View from above (Short story 2)

And what a view...?!

Every time I watch my photos from my trip in Cape Le Grand I'm once again amazed about the beaches there and the views.

Sometimes I see pictures of places that looks beautiful but when I get there I find them less attractive and realise that once again the picture was better than the real thing. But not in this case, not Esperance in West-Australia. Looking on the web and seeing the pictures from this amazing national park, I'm thinking to my self, yes, that's exactly how it looks like!

When the sun is shining (and it often does) the variation of blue colors of the water in combination with the very fine white squeaky sand, the green bushes and the blue sky above, creating these amazing views.

In addition, the serenity, the peace and quiet as in rest of WA makes it even more pleasant for me. Walking on these long stretches of beaches for a whole day without seeing any human. Did see lots of birds and kangaroos, but not people, not even one, until I got back to my starting point, Wharton beach with road access.

In Hellfire bay, there was a group of 4 travellers in a van enjoying a refreshing dip in the freezing water. These were the only people I met in 2 days.
The water are very cold, around 15 degrees c. but as the temperature outside is about 30 degrees c. it's so nice to have a swim in the clear transparent water... but not too far from the shore as I didn't feel like meeting any sharks, they are known to be in the area.

View from below (Short story 1)

I love the beach and I know I'm not the only one. Of course not all beaches are as nice, inspiring and fun but the important thing is that they are by the sea.

Living in the Netherlands is not the ultimate place for beach lovers, not even close, but the country lies on the coast and therefore has many beaches to explore, from south to north. So I did.

During my first years living in the Netherlands I explored many of the beaches, from Texel Island in the north to 'Scheveningen in Den-Haag, yes, there more to explore south of the capital but come on, it is the North Sea...

If you never had the experience of sitting on icy sand on the beach in the cold dutch winter, then you don't know the feeling of a cold frozen yet sinking ass...(and you didn't miss anything).
